Location

The numerous attractions which have made Florence the enticing city it is are all within walking distance of the hotel.  Brunelleschi’s breath-taking dome is not to be overlooked.  It caps the famous Florentine cathedral, Il Duomo, which is larger than the Capitol building in Washington, the Pantheon in Rome, and even St.Peters in the Vatican City.  It is a brisk 5 minute walk eastwards from the hotel.

Facing the hotel is one of the most characteristic renaissance churches in Florence:  the Church of Saint Michele and Gaetano.  It is one of the most exemplary examples of Baroque style architecture and dates back to the 11th century later being dramatically restructured in the 16th.

South of the hotel, leading down from Piazza degli Antinori to the Arno river, the Via de’ Tornabuoni is is one of Florence’s most fashionable streets and is brimming with various elite boutiques including Gucci, Armani, Prada, Cartier and Ferragamo.

At the foot of Via de’ Tornabuoni is the Arno River.  The Ponte Santa Trinita crosses this famous river andwas rebuilt after World War bombings.  Michelangelo is believed to have drawn the origial plan but Ammannati built the bridge.

Located in Piazza degli Antinori, number 1, around 500 meters and a 10 minute stroll from the Piazza del Duomo, the Hotel De La Ville is perfectly placed to wander the captivating lanes of Florence.  This centrality and the compact size of Florence allow guests to reach the plethora of sights in a few minutes.

The Piazza del Duomo can be found walking east from the hotel on Via Degli Agli.  Follow this road straight and fix the captivating dome on the sky line.  The short walk leads directly to the famous square.  This is central Florence and most sights are concentrated in this area.
